How to convert a scanned PDF or an image to text

OCR (optical character recognition) reads the text in a picture of a page, such as a scan, a photo or a screenshot, and turns it into text you can edit. Docs.Zone recognizes scanned PDFs and JPG, PNG, TIFF, GIF and BMP images and gives you an editable Word document with the text and tables of the original. You can try it without an account.

- Press Start!. Recognition takes about 20-30 seconds per page, so a 10-page document is ready within 5 minutes.

Getting the best result
- Scan at 300 dpi or more; for photos, shoot the page straight on, in good light and in focus.
- Choose the right language: it decides which letters and words the recognition expects.
- Handwriting is not recognized reliably; printed text is.
A PDF that was created by a program already contains text: convert it with PDF to Word or PDF to Excel instead.
